The streets are going to be filled with music this weekend as Holi is just around the corner. Wouldn’t it be great if you could tell the actual Holi songs from the Sheila ki Jawanis and other festival music of this world? #QueMag trawled through all the Holi-based songs from Bollywood movies on YouTube to try and figure out which were the most popular to listen to.

Criteria: The video had to have at least one million views and feature a Holi scene.

Save yourself some time and check out our list if you’re looking for some inspiration during this most beautiful festival of colour.

Aaj Na Chhodenge, Kati Patang

We start off with an oldie, but a goldie. Rajesh Khanna looks fantastic even doused in the colours of Holi. Forty seven years later and this song still manages to beat competition from much more recent films. They don’t make them like they used to.

Do Me A Favour Lets Play Holi, Waqt

Akshay Kumar and pre-USA Priyanka Chopra star in what we can only assume must be the most bizarre Holi song of all time. The refrain “Do me a favour let’s play Holi” will haunt your dreams until the end of time.

Ang Se Ang Lagana, Darr

In one of the lighter moments of this otherwise psychotic film, Bobby Deol brings out the big guns and actually attempts a few dance moves. Pay little attention to the lyrics, however, because this was a simpler and less woke time.

Chhan Ke Mohalla, Action Replayy

She’s been out of the scene for so long that it’s difficult to believe that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was once one of the hottest properties in Bollywood, but here she is lighting up our screens in this visually arresting song.

Rang Barse, Silsila

Aishwarya must have learned it from someone and who better than from big daddy, Amitabh Bachchan? He may not be much of a dancer, but the man had a magnetic presence even back then. If that’s not enough to convince you, this song features both Jaya Bachchan and Rekha – always a fascinating dynamic to witness.

Hori Khele Raghuveera, Baghban

Surely Bachchan must be the undisputed King of Holi, even if didn’t really sharpen his dancing skills despite 22 years passing between Silsila and Baghban.  Hema Malini, on the other hand, is as graceful as ever.

Soni Soni, Mohabbatein

If YouTube views were a measure of who’s the bigger star between Shah Rukh Khan and the Big B, then SRK takes this one quite easily. Even Uday Chopra’s terribad presence isn’t enough to take away from this fun Holi song filled with horrid fashion choices from the turn of the millenium.

Balam Pickhari, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

If you haven’t heard this one at every Holi party since its release, you’re going to some real hipster parties. A massive Holi party, a pool party that comes out of nowhere and Deepika Padukone – this song has it all.
