There’s something about December that makes you want to curl up and treat yourself to a delicious dessert. The cold weather outside and the warm festive spirit inside makes it the perfect time to indulge in a brownie, a pie or a cake. For a month like this, we’d like to introduce you to the powers of the microwave. Without toiling away in the kitchen, you can make yourself sweet and quick microwave recipes to satiate those December dessert desires.

Brownie magic in a mug

brownie This single serving, brownie in a mug is perfect for those midnight cravings.


30g flour 50g sugar 2tbsp cocoa A pinch of cinnamon A pinch of salt 2tbsp vegetable oil ¼ cup water 1/8tsp vanilla extract 1 scoop of ice cream (if you want)


Add the flour, sugar, cocoa, cinnamon and salt in a mug and stir. Make sure it’s a microwave-safe mug. Keep stirring to mix well and break up any lumps. Pour in the oil, water and vanilla extract and stir till the mixture is smooth. Place the mug in the microwave and heat on high for about a minute and half, till the brownie is cooked well. You can adjust the time and heat, based on how powerful your microwave is and how gooey you desire the brownie to be. A very berry cobbler

berry cobbler December is berry season. Enjoy this refreshing dessert made quickly in a microwave.


¾ cup strawberries 1/3 cup flour ¼ cup powdered sugar 1tbsp white sugar ½tsp baking powder 2tbsp milk 1tbsp butter


Chop the strawberries and add them to a ramekin. Add in the powdered sugar and stir. In another bowl, add flour, white sugar, baking powder and mix. Add the butter to the flour mixture and combine. Then add the milk and stir. Add the dough to the top of the berries. You can sprinkle some more sugar to it if you want. Microwave this ramekin for about 1-2 minutes. Let it cool and then you can enjoy your berry treat.  

A chocolicious peanut butter cake

peanut butter cake Got two minutes on hand? That’s all you need to make this cake.


1 egg 1tbsp brown sugar 2tbsp peanut butter 1tbsp cocoa 1tbsp flour 1/4tsp baking powder A handful of chocolate chips


Take a small bowl and stir in the egg, brown sugar, peanut butter, flour, cocoa and baking powder. Add the chocolate chips and stir. Pour the batter into a greased ramekin. Microwave it for 1 minute. Crunchy chocolate chip cookie

cookie Have you made cookies in the microwave before? Well, brace yourself for a warm, gooey treat.


1tbsp butter 4tbsp flour 1tbsp granulated sugar 1tbsp whisked egg 1tbsp brown sugar 1tbsp chocolate chip 1/4tsp vanilla extract


Take a large microwave-safe mug, add the butter and melt it for 40 seconds in the microwave. Pour in the remaining ingredients, except the chocolate chips and mix it with a whisk until the dough comes together. Now stir in the chocolate chips. Flatten the dough evenly across the base of the mug. Cook it in the microwave for about a minute. Allow it to cool for it to firm up and then eat it immediately. Do you have a good microwave at home?
