Just as a human year is equal to 15 dog years, a human month is equal to much more in smartphone years. With an increase in consumption and an increase in competition, the market is flooded with new options every month. So much so, that it gets difficult to keep a tab on new releases and even more difficult to choose one amongst the variety. To keep you informed of all that happened in the smartphone world, here are phones launched in August that you should know about.

Vivo S1

Vivo S1 is an addition to the existing mid-range lineup of India’s third-largest smartphone company. The S1 comes in two attractive gradient colours with a triple-camera setup at the back. For selfies, it sports a 32-megapixel camera and a bevvy of selfie modes to enhance your images. It sports a 6.38-inch FullHD Super AMOLED display that has a waterdrop notch to house the camera.

It is powered by an octa-core Helio P65 processor and is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. At its heart, it has a 4,500mAh battery that supports 18W Dual-Engine fast charging.

Mi A3

The Mi A3 is the newest addition to one of the most popular Android One smartphone series in the world. The A3 comes with an all-new glass back that is wonderful to hold. The back of the phone houses a triple-camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary camera for crispy shots. The front of the phone sports a 6.08-inch Super AMOLED display and a 32-megapixel selfie camera that is nestled in the waterdrop notch.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 665 SoC and is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The phone houses a 4,030mAh battery and supports up to 18W charging. Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster, AI Face Unlock and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Realme 5 and 5 Pro

The Realme 5 and 5 Pro are the latest phones from Realme. The Realme 5 Pro features a quad-camera setup at the back that includes a 48-megapixel primary camera and a macro lens amongst others. It is powered by a Snapdragon 712 SoC and is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to UFS 2.1 256GB of storage. It has a 6.3-inch FullHD display and a 4,035mAh battery that supports 20W fast charging.

The Realme 5 is the younger sibling but is very similar to the Realme 5 Pro in terms of what it offers. It has a 6.5-inch HD display with a waterdrop notch that houses a 12-megapixel camera. The quad-camera setup at the back consists of a primary 12-megapixel sensor and a macro sensor to take shots at a mere distance of 4 cm. It is powered by a Snapdragon 665 SoC and is paired with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10/ Note 10+

The Galaxy Note 10 is the next flagship from Samsung that reinvents what the S-Pen can be and do. The S-Pen now supports air gestures and can change songs/presentation slides/camera at the flick of the S-Pen in air. The Note 10+ comes with a gorgeous QuadHD 6.8-inch display that melts in the sides and offers the ultimate viewing pleasure.

The phone is powered by Exynos 9825 processor and is paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The Note 10+ features a quad-camera setup that includes a ‘DepthVision’ camera that lends hands to AR-based features. With an all glass-and-aluminium build, this is probably the most premium phone you can get your hands on! If the Note 10+ is bigger than you’d like it to be, the Note 10 offers almost the same functionality but in a smaller package that has a 6.1-inch display.

Motorola Action One

The Motorola Action One is the phone that you should care about if you’re looking for one that can also double up as an action camera. The Action One sports a triple-camera system that features a fast-focusing ultra-wide action video camera too. This camera can fit 4x more of the scene in the frame and can shoot landscape videos even when the phone is held vertically! Also, it’s probably the cheapest phone that can shoot 4K videos from its selfie camera.

The phone sports a 6.3-inch 21:9 CinemaVision display that offers more screen real estate without actually making the phone too uncomfortable to hold. It is powered by the Exynos 9609 SoC and is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is a part of the Android One program and will get Android and security updates for the next 2 and 3 years respectively.

OPPO Reno2 Series

Three phones are expected to be launched with the top-end one having a quad-camera setup at the back. This top-end phone will also have a 20x lens that’ll let you shoot faraway objects and scenes with much more clarity. So, if you’re looking to buy a well-built phone that has great cameras, watch out for what the Reno2 series has to offer.
