Since its launch last year, Realme India has made a huge impact in the smartphone scene with its devices, as well as several great accessories. However, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has confirmed that the brand has another category up its sleeve for 2020 – fitness bands.

As a relatively new entrant in the smartphone scene, Realme has had a big impact. However, it won’t be fair to limit their label to just a smartphone manufacturer. Ranging from earphones like the Realme Buds, Buds Wireless and the latest Buds Air, the brand has also launched its own powerbanks, accessories and more. In the latest episode of Ask Madhav, it was confirmed by Madhav Sheth that a Realme fitness band is in the works for a first-half 2020 release.

Competition

Currently, the budget fitness band has a lot of competition, mostly led by Xiaomi’s range of Mi Band devices. Xiaomi has even released the Mi Band 3i, a stripped-down version of its popular Mi Band 3, earlier this year. However, as with its smartphones, Xiaomi should be expecting strong competition from Realme’s fitness wearables. Both brands do a fabulous job of bringing great devices at competitive price points, which is extremely beneficial for their customers every single time.

And More from Realme

In addition to this confirmation, Sheth also said that the company will be making several announcements in the IoT space next year. He also confirmed that older Realme models like the Realme C1, Realme U1, Realme 1 and Realme 2 won’t receive the Android 10 update but will continue to receive features like Dark Mode. A VOOC-enabled powerbank has also been confirmed in the company’s roadmap.

Realme has been positioning itself as a lifestyle brand for India. With its capable devices in audio, accessories and more, that position is being established quite well. They have recently also forayed into the financial services segment with Realme PaySa. 2020 is going to be an exciting year for following the brand.
