Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s epic fantasy romantic thriller, Mirzya, released today to rave reviews. The film is based on the Punjabi folklore of Mirza Sahiban and promises to be a fresh approach to storytelling.
#QueMag caught up with the film’s female debutante, Saiyami Kher, a successful model who has previously campaigned for major brands and featured in the Kingfisher calendar, to talk about the music that means the most to her.
“My taste in music is very different from most people of my generation. I’m a lover of old Hindi songs and a romantic at heart,” says Saiyami.
There are Saiyami Kher’s favourite songs.
Lag Jaa Gale, Woh Kaun Thi
It’s heartbreakingly beautiful and Lataji’s most haunting melody. It pierces the soul. Maybe my favourite song ever.
Ye Jeevan Hai, Piya Ka Ghar
I’m a big Kishoreda fan, and this song encapsulates my philosophy of life.
Bavra Mann, Hazaaron Khwaahishen Aisi
I find this song by Swanand Kirkire very inspiring. It’s such a feel good song and makes you believe in your dreams.
Come Away With Me, Norah Jones
I find this song very romantic. Norah Jones’ soulful voice calms my nerves.
Teen Gawah, Mirzya
This song from Mirzya that just released a few days ago is one of the most liberating and romantic tracks of recent times. Beautifully penned by Gulzar saab, it brings a smile on my face every time I hear it.
