The bun’s finally out of the oven and ready to be sampled by all. The much-awaited Android Nougat has finally begun rolling out for several smartphones in the Indian market. This update will bring to Android users a bunch of new and fascinating features like being able to run two apps at the same time, sharper graphics, the Doze battery saver mode etc.
Although Android 7.0 is available only to 0.7 percent of all the android smartphones out there, there are quite a few that may switch over in the next few weeks. Here are some of the smartphones that have officially announced the big news.
Sony has started rolling out Android Nougat to its Xperia Z devices which include Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium. This update is being forwarded by an OTA update for only select variants of the phone. This update is region-specific for now so you will have to keep checking your phone for it. Xperia Z5 Compact will also get the update but not right now.
Moto is always on top of its game when it comes to system updates. They began to roll out Android Nougat in India barely two months after the global rollout began. If you’ve been using these Moto phones, chances are that you already have your Nougat update.
Samsung released the nougat update for Galaxy 7 and 7 Edge. However, it has currently halted the rollout due to some bug issues. They’re now trying to rectify it and the new beta is said to bring stability and performance improvement. Nevertheless, these chosen phones will have the update rolling out again soon.
Joining the Android 7.0 club is OnePlus 3 and 3T. The makers recently announced that both these devices will receive the new update. However, it will be incremental which means only a few phones will be updated for now but will be broadly distributed in the next few days.
HTC India confirmed on Twitter that three of its recent devices, the HTC One A9, the HTC One M9+ and the latest flagship, the HTC 10 will start receiving the Android Nougat update in India. While the One A9 and One M9 have already seen a few updates, HTC 10 devices will have to wait a little more due to some bug issues but will soon be in the nougat league too.
ZUK Z2 launched by Lenovo will also see the Android Nougat update. While there isn’t a confirmed date yet for it, be assured about the authenticity of the news since it comes straight from ZUK CEO Chang Chen. Additionally, rumour remains that the ZUK Z2 Pro might be getting it too.
The Nexus 6P is a reboot of the Nexus 6 made by Huawei, while the Nexus 5X is a reboot of the Nexus 5, made by LG again. They might not be the most talked about phones but these two beauties have the nougat update available to them already.
