No Indian kitchen is complete without a mixer grinder. Right from grounding spices to making mouthwatering chutneys, it can be used to do a variety of food processing, dry and wet grinding. It is also essential for every health enthusiast - for making quick smoothies and healthy drinks. While it is quite a simple appliance, there are still a few factors you need to be aware of when going for a new mixer grinder. Let's take a look at them.

Not all ingredients need to be chopped or ground at the same speed. The speed of a mixer grinder is calculated by the number of rotations the blade can make in a minute. A mixer with an RPM (rotations per minute) of 18,000 is suitable for a kitchen.

More the wattage, more powerful a grinder is. A mixer grinder with higher wattage will be able to grind tougher ingredients at higher speeds. For most scenarios, a power rating of 500 watts to 750 watts is ideal.

Mixer Blades

The quality of the blades is a crucial aspect that you need to keep in mind while buying a new mixer grinder.

Look for a blade that is made of stainless steel and is of 304 grade, preferably. A better-quality blade will last longer as it will be more resistant to corrosion and oxidation.

Depending on what’s being ground or mixed, it’s ideal to use different jars that suit the job best. It’s always better to opt for a unit that offers more jars and hence more flexibility in what food can be prepared with it.

A good jar should have a durable body and a sealable lid that will make it last longer and function without any hassles.
