Michael Kors has a new role – that of a knight in shining armour fighting against global hunger. In an attempt to raise awareness and funding for this passion project, he launched the Watch Hunger Stop campaign. This effort is a collaboration between the design mogul and The United Nations World Food Programme, and is backed by the likes of Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, US Vice President Joe Biden and many more.
A UN report states that one in every nine people lacks the resources and access to meet their daily nutritional needs. Since its inception back in 2013, Michael Kors has been fighting against this issue of global hunger by bringing food to children in countries including Cambodia, Mozambique, Nicaragua, and Uganda. The special edition Watch Hunger Stop timepieces raise money to provide meals to school children so they can focus on their education. This year, Kors has partnered with his friend, actress Kate Hudson and designed special activity trackers to further this campaign. For every tracker sold, 100 meals will be donated to UN’s World Food Programme. Besides the trackers, the company has also released limited edition Bradshaw 100 watches. Clearly, change begins with small gestures of kindness.
