Nidhi is one of the most established and influential yoga and fitness trainers in India. She is also the director of Nidsun – a chain of weight loss clinics in Delhi, Chandigarh and Panchkula. With over 17 years of experience in the field, she has won many accolades and gained the reputation of being an all-round fitness expert. One look at her Instagram page and you would want to pull out your yoga mat and practice along with her. Here’s what she shares with us:
“I started Yoga in school and after over a year of weight training, I kind of lost touch with it till a medical condition reduced my strength in one hand and I used Yoga to gain it back. I am obsessed with anything to do with body and mind. Yoga is not a workout but a lifestyle and this helps me be grounded in everything I do.”

Benefits

Yoga is not just the physical asana practice you see, so a perfect split or handstand doesn't mean Yoga. Yoga is a discipline, a lifestyle. It's your values, your value addition to the world, your self control and loads and loads of discipline. It might seem overwhelming in the beginning but once you master the art, it makes you efficient and  mindful of everything. There's more peace, patience and gratitude in you for everything in life.

Personal Transformation

The physical transformation is obvious but it’s the transformation of your mind and its effects on your body once you become more aware and your chakras open, that’s truly inspiring.  I realised there were so many emotions I was holding on to and once I let it go, not just my body but my mind transformed beautifully.

Yoga for the young

We live in a world of disposal things. Emotions, people, relationships - everything is becoming disposable. In such a scenario, you need a strong mental and physical practice that grounds you and connects you deeply with your soul. Yoga helps you become a better person and with more such people, we can change the society.

Yoga for beginners

All you need to start with is self-discipline. Learning to focus on your breath can be an excellent platform to begin your yoga journey.

Three Yoga essentials

Your breath, your mat and your 100% faith in your teacher and this practice.

Transformation

Yoga has helped me to be more in the present state of mind. I used to face a lot of anxiety before regarding people, work, facing new things in life etc. But now I am much more confident and patient. I used to take a lot of things personally and overthink on it day and night. But with my daily breathing techniques (Pranayama), I'm overcoming this issue. It helps me to be more calm and alert.

Yoga for the young

Yoga is very important for the younger generation. I am happy seeing a lot of schools have a separate yoga lecture for the students. It's really needed because yoga helps not just physically but also mentally. Mental health is something I would love to focus more on.

Yoga for beginners

A beginner can start off with traditional yoga as it helps in understanding the basics and make your base stronger.

Three Yoga essentials

Enter a Yoga class with an open mind (keep your shoes and ego outside the class), wear a positive attitude towards yourself (your vibe matters a lot). And last but not the least, carry your Yoga mat. Because if you fall the mat will always be there for you.
