Here comes the awards season, full of glitz, glamour and razzmatazz. It is that time of the year when staying in and consuming copious amounts of popcorn is socially acceptable. It's also that time where we fashion hawks shift our focus from runways and street style to the red carpet. Granted our Cinderella moment is light years away (or just a figment of our imagination), but red carpet trends have a way of seeping into our closets. Take the 74th Golden Globe Awards, which wrapped up last night, for example. The red carpet at this year's edition was nothing short of fashion-addict's dream sequence. We've picked our top five, must-have-by-any-means-possible trends to kick off 2017 with aplomb. Here are the only looks that matter.

Priyanka Chopra: Glitter Bomb

Repeat after me: Priyanka Chopra can do no wrong. The goddess was spotted in a befittingly exquisite Ralph Lauren Couture gown that looked like it was delicately pieced together with gold-leaf and molded around her perfect body. We are all for taking the inspo and adding some glitter to our outfits. Let's face it, life without glitter is just plain ol' boring.

Blake Lively: All Black Everything

Okay, so well all know black is a no-fail option. We'll pull it out on days we want to look sexy, goth, chic, don't-mess-with-me or when we are PMS-ing. But when Blake Lively stepped on the red carpet in this stellar custom Versace (it's got pockets, you gaiz!) we found our faith restored. TL;DR: when in doubt, wear black.

Naomi Campbell: Stripes

Fashion psychics have unanimously predicted stripes as a huge trend in 2017--to which we say, when did it ever go out of fashion. Now that eternal style muse Naomi Campbell has given it her seal of approval by wearing this lavender and black Atelier Versace gown, let's embrace it. All aboard the trend bandwagon!

Emily Ratajkowski: Sunshine Daisy Butter Yellow

Yellow is a tricky colour to pull off and, in most cases, never a first choice. But trust Emily Ratajkowski to lead the way and show us how it's done. This mellow yellow by Reem Acra might not find its way in our closet, but the colour is worth a shot.

Emma Stone: Blush Hued

Emma Stone is a style inspiration and spirit animal to lesser mortals aplenty. As if her stellar performance in La La Land wasn't enough, her appearance on the red carpet followed suit--quite literally. Blush is the new nude as far as colour trends are concerned and Stone's star-studded (look closely) Valentino gown has us swooning.
