Gionee announced two new phones at the Mobile World Congress 2017, the A1 and A1 Plus. The A series are the newest series in Gionee’s lineup and the phone manufacturer kicked it off with a freestyle footballer showcasing his skills. Because Barcelona obviously.
The finest features of the A1 and A1 Plus are long battery life and selfie photo quality. The Gionee A1 is packed with a mammoth 4010 mAh battery and the Gionee A1 Plus does it even better with a 4550 mAh battery. Best of all, you can fully charge your phone within 2 hours thanks to the all-new ‘ultrafast charging’.

It’s exciting to see front cameras these days that can outperform most rear cameras. And Gionee does it well and how. The Gionee A1 a 16-megapixel front-camera and the Gionee A1 Plus has an impressive 20-megapixel front camera with a f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.8-inch sensor, not to forget a selfie flash. The A1 Plus has a dual rear camera setup, with 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors with a f/2.0 aperture while the A1 has a 13-megapixel rear camera. Both devices come with LED flash on the front and rear.
The Gionee A1 has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 SoC (announced in 2015), 4 GB RAM, along with 64 GB of inbuilt storage expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB). Standard connectivity options are available, including 4G.
The Gionee A1 Plus is phablet sized and has 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 SoC with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).
The Gionee A1 and A1 both run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with Gionee’s Amigo 4.0 UI. Both will have dual SIM options and will be available in Grey and Mocha Gold colour variants. No word on price yet but Gionee promises March availability for the A1 and April for the A1 Plus.
