We absolutely love it when two brands team up to create a collection that merge their aesthetics. As the countdown to H&M’s new partnership with Kenzo begins, we are taking a walk down memory lane and telling you the best fashion collaborations of all time!
1. Karl Lagerfeld x H&M
It was Kal Lagerfeld's 2004 partnership with H&M that really paved the way for high-end collaborations between designers and the swedish retail giant as we know it. Expecting the collection to stay on floors for 2 weeks, the overwhelmingly almost all black collection surprisingly sold out in a matter of seconds. Not unexpected in 2016, but quite the surprise in 2004.
2. Kanye West x Adidas
Kanye’s own fashion line might be a true fashion aficionado’s worst nightmare but his collaboration with Adidas on the Yeezy Boost sneakers have found a cult following. He’s released 4 Boost models with Adidas, namely- the Yeezy Boost 750, Yeezy Boost 350, Yeezy Boost 550 and Yeezy Boost 650 all which retail upwards of 200 dollars and have instantly been sold out. The minimalist shoes are striking with a white, black and grey tone. Yeezy definitely knows how to make headlines!
3. Sabyasachi x Louboutin
What happens when the king of wedding couture and the man behind the red soles get together? Absolute magic, that’s what! The much sought after collaboration titled ‘Bater’ was launched at the Amazon India Couture Week in 2015. The 80 piece limited edition line featured Louboutin’s Victoria and Devibroda style constructed with the Sabyasachi’s iconic and quintessential embroidery styles- burnt zardosi, vintage parsi gara, acid-dyed burnt sequins and tea-dyed cotton threads.
4. Moschino x Barbie
Millions of women squealed in delight when their childhood dreams came true when Jeremy Scott paid homage to every little girl’s first best friend. As expected, the collection was fun, pink and the perfect tribute to the original Queen B. The best part, Mattel and Moschino released a gender neutral ad that had a boy playing with a barbie.
5. H&M x Balmain
With an Instagram following of 3.9 million followers and an army that consists of Insta Supermodels Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and reality superstars The Kardashian clan, Balmain’s much anticipated collaboration with H&M released in 2015. The capsule collection had his frenzied fans grabbing them off the shelves which nearly resulted in a stampede. Sold out in a matter of minutes, they appeared on ebay for 10 times the original price. It was complete #BalmainDomination.
